This card game took place in the kitchen of the farmhouse that my father was born in, located in Mabou, Cape Breton. Evenings in the summer were often spent playing cards after a trip to the ice cream barn in the village. This night the card game was between my two nieces and two of my cousins. Much to her chagrin, one of my nieces was losing the game.
